When You Are On the Go...

I always pack meals when I am going to be gone over a meal hour.  Why? Well, it saves me from wrong choices at fast-food joints.  Most fast-food places take a lot of time just to find something healthy, also their salads might look good, but when you take another look and see that the chicken on the salad is fried and the lettuce is covered with thick, fattening ranch dressing, you have to ask yourself, how healthy is this?  In fact, salads with fried and rich and creamy toppings to garnish it, are not good for you at all! Do not be fooled!
So, to stay away from this, I pack lunches.  Today, I will be gone babysitting all day, so I will need to pack a lunch.  Make sure you pack enough to keep you from snacking or going to the vending machines and if you like to munch, like me, bring healthy snack options; such as dried fruit, almonds (measure your portion sizes though! Almonds and dried fruit can be quite high calorically if not measured out!), chobani yougurt, etc.
If you are in a hurry, grab a couple baggies. Fill one with veggies, another with fruit, another with some protein source, (such as granola or nuts), and a Chobani Yogurt if you have on hand. This dosen't take forever to prepare, you just have to grab it and throw it in a bag! But, it is healthy and super easy! Also, it is inexpensive!

Have fun packing lunches and mix it up! Go for a sandwich one day, then salad, turkey meat wraps, etc.

Here are some packed lunch ideas:

  • Salad (bring your Italian dressing! Make sure to put it on the side too, so your salad is not soggy by the time you eat it!
  • Sandwiches (try to stay away from mayo-embrace the mustard, 0 calorie and good for you!)
  • Chobani Yogurt, Fruit and Veggies, and Turkey Meat (or Granola).
  • Leftovers from last night's meal :) Yum!
  • Soup- if you have a good enough container to carry it in, and if a microwave is available to use where you are at.
  • Turkey Wraps
  • Whole Wheat Mini Bagel plus Turkey and Mozzarella Cheese Block Slices (2)
  •  Peanut Butter and Honey or Jelly (careful to measure peanut butter though!)
  • Fruit Smoothie prepared in advanced.  These are so yummy and you can add veggies to them because the fruit hides the veggie taste!

I hope some of these lunch ideas get you thinking and packing! (:

Much Love,
Miss Bethany <3
